Description of the project

Already during her time in Lund, Måås-Fjetterström began to draw models for fabrics, and “Staffan Stalledräng” was shown at the Stockholm exhibition, later purchased by the Röhsska Museum of Crafts.
For the Baltic Exhibition in Malmö in 1914, “Sankt Göran och draken” was drawn.
These striking fabrics attracted the interest of Ludvig Nobel, and in connection with a large order for his National Romantic building Skånegården in Båstad, he offered her to open a studio in the same place.
The year was 1919, and from then on her work focused mainly on carpets, but she also produced fabrics such as draperies.
Båstad became Måås-Fjetterström’s home until her death in 1941.
Nature on the slopes of Hallandsåsen was a never-ending source of inspiration, and with great artistic skill, flowers, leaves and the occasional horse were stylized to get their chosen place in the rich, yet fully controlled splendor that came to make up her carpets.
Local weavers were employed to weave everything from large parade floats such as the “Black Garden Carpet” and the “Herb Garden” to the ingeniously simple modernist composition “Blue Border Carpet” in rolled sheets.
