Description of the project
After school, Barbro Nilsson trained at Johanna Brunsson’s weaving school in Stockholm in 1918 and was a teacher of plant dyeing and weaving at summer courses there from 1919 to 1941, with the exception of the years 1920-1924 when she attended the Technical School.
From 1924 to 1925 she taught pattern drawing, weaving theory and weaving at Maria Nordenfelt’s Higher Handicraft Seminar, and from 1934 to 1945 she taught tracing, weaving and haute-lisse weaving at the Higher School of Industrial Arts.
She was the main teacher of textiles at the Konstfack School 1947-1957 and artistic director of Märta Måås-Fjetterström’s weaving workshop 1942-1970.
Barbro Nilsson was awarded the Litteris et Artibus medal in 1948.
